Preserving the Recipes (and People) That Made Us

June 17, 20253 min read

This past year I've had some pretty amazing opportunities come my way and it opened up something I didn't think was possible...something that deeply and meaningfully unfolded.

I was invited to be featured in two cookbooks, with a third on the way. Each time, I was asked to share a recipe—something that meant something to me and my family. And each time, I felt this beautiful sense of pause. A moment to look back and ask: Where did these recipes really come from? Why do they matter so much?

And the answer was simple:
Because
most of my memories are tied to food.

🌿 The Moments That Made Me

It’s the long tables at family reunions, covered in homemade salads, desserts, burgers—and always a bucket of KFC chicken.
It’s summer barbecues at my grandfather’s, running barefoot across his lush lawn.
It’s church suppers as a child, where food and community wove tightly together.
It’s trying Funnel Cake for the first time at Canada’s Wonderland.
It’s eating chicken and dumplings at my best friend’s house—because my mom
hated soggy bread and wouldn’t make them.
It’s pretending to eat liver and onions with my dad (only to sneak pizza with my mom and brothers).
It’s funerals, weddings, birthdays… all remembered through the food we shared.
It’s walking fence lines with my grandfather, picking wild leeks and popping them into our mouths like secrets.

These aren’t just memories.
They’re
flavours of my life.
And chances are, you have moments like that too.

✨ What If We Could Keep More Than Recipes?

Food isn’t just food.
It’s love language.
It’s history.
It’s how we remember—and how we’re remembered.

But unless we make a point to capture those recipes and stories, they fade.
The handwriting fades. The memory of the way something tasted...
fades.
And I don’t want that for my family—or for yours.

📖 Why I’m Creating Heirloom Family Cookbooks

That’s why I’ve started offering Heirloom Cookbooks: fully customized, meaningful collections that bring together your family’s favorite recipes and the stories behind them.

Each one includes:

  • Up to 30 recipes and 50 pages of space for photos, quotes, stories, and memories

  • The option to include scanned handwritten cards and personal notes

  • 4 timeless design themes to choose from

  • 10 printed copies, plus a digital version to share

It’s a way to preserve a piece of your family forever.

💛 This Is Personal

This is more than a new project.
It’s a continuation of who I’ve always been—someone who believes in
the beauty of ordinary things, in slowing down to remember, and in honoring the moments that shape us.

Whether it’s your grandmother’s pie, your dad’s chili, or a recipe you make only on birthdays—this is about keeping it alive. About putting it in a format that won’t be lost, deleted, or forgotten in a drawer.

🔗 If This Speaks to You...

You’ll see me talking more about these cookbooks here on the blog.
I’m offering a limited number of custom spots to begin with, so I can give each one the love and attention it deserves.

If this idea resonates with you—if you’ve felt that little pull to preserve your own family’s story—I’d love to talk.

This isn’t a sales pitch.
It’s an invitation.
